The official unveiling of the 2008 Southlake Festival of Trees poster will take place at First National Bank Southlake Town Square on Thursday, Nov 13, at 5:00 p.m. The bank will be hosting a party from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. On hand will be the women of Greater Southlake Women's Society, A Junior Federated Women's Club promoting the poster and the Sleigh Bell Card ( The original artwork "Lighting of the Trees" will be available for preview that evening. The original artwork goes up for auction on Friday evening , November 21, 2008 at the Making Spirts Bright...A Holiday Affair, A VIP party held inconjunction with the Southlake Festival of Trees, presented by Park Place Motorcars Bedford. Special guest taking part in the festivities is this year’s poster artist Trish Biddle of Westlake, TX. Ms. Biddle was also the artist for the Kentucky Derby poster in 2008 (

Trish selected as official artist of the Southlake Festival of Trees

The Greater Southlake Women’s Society began preparations last summer for their new annual fundraiser, Southlake Festival of Trees in conjunction with Southlake Town Square and the City of Southlake Christmas Tree lighting called Holiday Celebration. Park Place Motor Cars Mercedes Benz of Bedford is the 2008 Presenting Sponsor. This year’s theme is “Making Spirits Bright”. This three day spectacular event will take place November 21–23 in the heart of Town Square in the former Bombay space. The weekend is full of Christmas festivities, which include a contest of decorated trees. The trees will be voted on by the public and auctioned during the weekend. The proceeds will benefit GSWS philanthropies. Local Official Kentucky Derby artist Trish Biddle is the official artist. A preview Fashion show & luncheon will kick off the event at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2008. That evening “Making Spirits Bright” A Holiday Affair will begin at 7 p.m. featuring Ft. Worth's own celebrity Cowboy Chef Grady Spears. Event Chairwomen are Dawn LaRonde and Denise Lester. Carolyn and Tom Morris are our Honorary Event Chairs.

Greater Southlake Women’s Society is a member of The General (GFWC) and Texas Federated Women’s Clubs. is an international group of women volunteers with a historic legacy and continuing tradition of community service. Working along side other dedicated club members we enrich the lives of others in our community as well as developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of our volunteers. In the past three years, GSWS has donated over $150,000 to local philanthropies including ArtsNet, Bob Jones Nature Center, Carroll Education Foundation (scholarships), Freedom Flight, Girl Scouts, Metroport Meals on Wheels, Battered Women’s Foundation, Summer Santa, TRAIL Foundation of Rocky Top Therapy Center, Christmas is for Children, Cook Children’s Health Foundation, GRACE, Open Arms/ Community Enrichment Center, PKD, Polycystic Kidney Disease, Young Artist of Texas and for the past for 3 years GWSW has been the sponsor of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tarrant County, Pink Out Survivor Tent at “Frogs for the Cure” a TCU football game held in October.
